Outreach Committee - Overview

The Outreach Committee reaches out in the community to take on projects as well as inviting the community to participate in programs at Springbank United Church.  The Outreach Committee oversees communication from SBUC both inside and outside the Church.

The Chair of the Outreach Committee is an elected member of the Board / Leadership Team.  Board Members facilitate, monitor, set policy and approve budgets.

Co-ordinators serve the mandate (of the committee), build action plans, build human and other resources.

Outreach Committee Chair - Vacant

  • Co-ordinator, Community Liaison sub-committee - Vacant.  If you enjoy posting on social media, our Facebook page could use you!  Perhaps as one of the administrators or helping craft a plan for the Facebook page to invite more people to visit us or attend an event?  This sub-committee coordinates booth workers & activities for the Springbank Fall Fair and other events in the community including liaison with other groups in Springbank including resident societies and new neighbourhoods.
  • Co-ordinator, Projects - Evelyn Cote (Inn for the Cold).  If your passion is to help with the food bank drives, serve at Inn for the Cold or coordinate our White Gift Sunday and Mitten Tree initiatives, contact Evelyn Cote.
  • Co-ordinator, Social Functions - Vacant. If you like to plan potlucks, breakfasts, performances, the social functions sub-committee is a great area for you to volunteer.

Volunteers are needed for all areas of Outreach.  

 

Outreach Commitments

Inn from the Cold

From September - June, volunteers from SBUC serve lunch the 2nd Friday of each month.  Volunteers 

are needed for kitchen duty (physically demanding) and serving on the line.

Mitten Tree

Volunteers collect donations of mittens, hats and scarves in November & December.  The donations are given to Brenda's House

White Gift

White Gift is the Sunday before Christmas.  Gifts of personal hygiene items for women as well as gifts for children are distributed to women's shelters in the Greater Calgary area.

 Food Bank

Collections of non-perishable food is gathered to support the food drives of the Helping Hands Society (Cochrane)
