Wedding Information

We welcome you to Springbank United Church. It is here that we experience God’s presence have and created many memories of a vital faith lived in community. We pray all the goodness of our life as a congregation will spill over into your celebration. Springbank United Church is a progressive congregation that values equal marriage. Couples may be married regardless of gender, gender identity or sexual orientation. We respect a broad spiritual spectrum. We understand that love often brings one faith together with another. In a context of mutual respect, we can find ways to include different traditions. The minister will work with the couple to create a ceremony that is as unique as each relationship. We ask that at least one member of the couple requesting marriage is involved with a Christian Community. For some, a wedding is an opportunity to renew or begin a new spiritual journey. As we welcome you for your wedding, we welcome you for other spiritual needs as well. Growing in faith is more fun when you do it with others!

Rehearsal

Arrange a time for your rehearsal (usually the evening before your wedding day). The minister conducts the rehearsal at the church. Please be prompt. It is helpful if only the wedding party and parents of the couple attend.

Music

The church’s music director may be available on the date you choose. Couples are welcome to arrange for their own music, however, this must be approved in advance by the minister or the music director. The church has a grand piano and a sound system.

License

You are responsible for providing a valid marriage license, which is necessary for the wedding to take place. Please bring the license to one of the last meetings with the minister before the wedding rehearsal.

Wedding Planners

Many couples engage a professional wedding planner to help with the details of their special day. Your planner will be glad to know that once they arrive at the church, they can simply take a seat and enjoy the worship service.

All weddings reflect the Christian beliefs of our community of faith. Your service, in every respect, is conducted under the authority and direction of the minister.
